Night Shooting Begins - St. Francis Hospital Posted November 05, 2009On Wednesday, October 28, "The Grace Card" cast and crew adjusted sleep schedules and made the move to St. Francis Hospital in Memphis. The hospital administration graciously opened the door for filming at their campus. We are extremely thankful for their generosity. Without their support, our much needed hospital scenes would not have been possible.
Locations included the emergency department, various patient waiting areas, an operating room and the chapel. In addition, one entire floor in the hospital - soon to be renovated - was made available for filming. This allowed us to have specific areas for each department for the duration of our hospital shoot.
In order to achieve a high level of both accuracy and realism, the producers enlisted the help of actual doctors, paramedics and nurses as consultants. All cast members were asked to wear scrubs per hospital protocol when entering surgical areas. In addition, surgical nurses and and an anesthesiologist volunteered to assist with our scene in the operating room.
We completed our final night of shooting on Friday, October 30 with a exhausting 14-hour stretch. That night, we captured a scene that had everyone of us in tears. There have been many great moments and scenes already witnessed by our crew - but this one was special. Words cannot describe it...but you can experience it for yourself in the coming months.
